May 2008

May 11 - Mother's Day for Peace
1-3pm
Harmony Park, corner of Vail and Campbell Avenues,
Arlington Heights

When mothers lead, generations follow. Inspired by the life, words and actions of Julia Ward Howe who wrote a Mother's Day Proclamation in 1870, Mother's Day for Peace is a celebration to reclaim the true meaning of Mother's Day. Julia called for a day when mothers would unite across boundaries – of nationality, race, religion or political affiliation – to protect our global family. Welcome to families and friends of all configurations, ages and stages. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your joyful spirits – come early, stay late! Enjoy music by Solid-Aire, refreshments and children’s activities! Guest Speakers: Sarah Jerome, Ed.D., Superintendent, Arlington Heights School District 25, and Karen Johnson, Illinois State Coordinator of The Peace Alliance Campaign to establish a U.S. Department of Peace. Northwest Suburban Chicago Holistic Moms Network For more information, or if you would like to volunteer for the day of the event, please contact Johanna Navari Welch at nwscholisticmoms@gmail.com or 847-567-1228.
